About The Beauty of Faith

The Beauty of Faith is a free mini course originally offered through St. Monica Parish in Kalamazoo, Michigan about how to encounter God through the beauty we find in the world. There are four one- hour long lectures focusing on the following topics:

  • What Is Beauty and Why Does It Matter?

  • The Faith Revealed: Sacred Art and Architecture

  • The Power of Story: What Stories Teach Us About God and Ourselves

  • Sacred Music: A Formation in Beauty

The course also offers live Zoom chat sessions to discuss the videos and supplemental articles that further explore how to encounter beauty in the Church through prayer, nature, books, music, and more!

How To Navigate the Course

While this course was originally meant to be presented in person, an online format offers you the ability to connect with other participants beyond the presentation time, watch the presentations at any time and work through them at your own pace, and have access to a one- stop- shop for the resources cited within the presentations.

1.

Access the videos from the "Videos" tab. Leave comments on how the challenges went, ask questions, and return to re-watch whenever you want!

2.

Subscribe to our email list and attend a live Zoom session! Subscribing will let you know whenever we release a new supplemental article or video and will keep you in the loop when we host live Zoom chats to discuss the video content.

3.

Read our supplemental articles and access the resources to learn more on your own. The articles cover a variety of topics from how to pray lectio divina to reflections on how God can be found in popular song lyrics.

Hi! My name is Claire Anderson and I suppose I started this whole thing. I've always been interested in art and beauty and this blog combines my love of my faith, beauty, and writing and I could not be more thrilled to be a part of it. I graduated from the Echo program at Notre Dame with my masters in Theology in summer of 2021. I currently work as a high school campus minister in Cincinnati, OH. In my free time I love to read, paint (I'm a self- taught watercolorist), sing, cook, write (you can read the first three chapters of my book here), hike, and hang out with friends and family.
